Meet Bree

I’m Bree, a stay at home mom to 2 (soon-to-be 3) sweet crazy little redheads.  I strive to follow Jesus daily, but fail often.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere, Missouri, where I spent a lot of time outside catching crawdads, cleaning fish or climbing trees.  I was the only girl in a family with 4 athletic brothers, one who played minor league baseball for the Cardinals & now coaches for the Washington Nationals.

I graduated high school a year early with 23 classmates and moved to Joplin, MO where I went to college and got an associates degree in Biblical Literature.  Fast forward 5 years later and I learned to roll around on a skateboard to mentor young girls at a fun place called The Bridge, this is where I met my husband, a youth pastor at the time.  He was adventurous, artistic and generous.  I knew he was the one when he planned a secret destination road trip for a couple of friends and I.  He gave us a packing list and didn’t tell us where we were going.  We had a polaroid camera and a grab bag full of crazy games for pit stops.  We ended up in Memphis, TN and by the end of this road trip I realized I was beginning to fall in love.  His plan had worked.

We started dating and married 8 months later in 2007. Sometime I’ll write a post about how he proposed, of course it was super romantic.

We lived in Joplin until he graduated college and then moved to Kansas City, where we live today.  My husband is an excellent graphic designer and I worked at Starbucks until the night before my daughter was born and I’ve been a stay at home mom ever since.

In my free time, I enjoy going to garage sales and thrift stores.  I do a lot of selling on Ebay to earn extra spending money for our family….and to support my Dr. Pepper addiction.  I kid, I kid, but not really.  I love eating yummy food, especially when I don’t have to make it.  I love traveling and experiencing new places, cultures and adventures.  And I enjoy being active, when I’m not pregnant, of course, when I’m pregnant, I don’t want to do anything.

I started this blog because I needed to find something that would help me feel challenged to learn new things and  find some validation and community from women who could relate, were in similar walks of life or who just happened to find a recipe they wanted to try.  I was stuck in a rut of mundane routine, boring meals and a lack of motivation.  I wanted a place to share my struggles and successes.  This became Bree Talks.  I would love for you to join me on my journey and share with me, some of yours.
