I love the Desert Essence brand of health and beauty products. They offer consistently high quality items that always go above and beyond my expectations in performance. This is why I was really excited for the opportunity to try out their toothpaste.

Their Activated Charcoal Toothpaste is made in the US with globally sourced ingredients, including antioxidant CoQ10 and botanical blends of oils and extracts that provide complete care for your teeth and gums. Australian Tea tree oil defends against sugar acids. An exclusive blend of Country Life Vitamins’ Activated Coconut Shell Charcoal helps to shine and polish. The baking soda and sea salt gently clean your teeth and it is completely carrageenan free, fluoride free, sls free, gluten free and vegan.

This was my first experience with charcoal toothpaste and to be honest, I was always a little scared to dive in. I use natural toothpaste and I love Desert Essence, but my fears were that charcoal toothpaste would taste bad and that the texture would be gritty.

Haha I was WAY off!

This Desert Essence Activated Charcoal Toothpaste was awesome and really set me straight. It tasted great with a light fresh minty flavor. It had a nice texture (no grit), was lightly foamy, and easy to rinse clean! I’m excited to have a natural toothpaste option that deeply cleans, beautifully polishes and leaves my mouth feeling refreshed!

I definitely recommend this brand and product! A full size tube retails for about $6.99 and can be found at Sprouts Farmers Market, Raley’s Supermarkets, The Vitamin Shoppe, Pharmaca, Earth Fare, Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, and on To locate it at a store near you, visit
