The Believe Storybook is a very simple and deep children’s devotional that goes through biblical truths and scripture, teaching them how to think, act and be like our savior, Jesus. It is organized in a way that is easy to follow, both for the child and parent.
It was written by the bestselling author and pastor Randy Frazee & author Laurie Lazzaro Knowlton and illustrated by Steve Adams. It is recommended for ages 4 and up. The book is a part of a church-wide program and has 60 old and new testament stories that inspire you to be more like Jesus, in the way you think, in the way you act and in the way you live daily.
When the book came in the mail, it was significantly larger than I expected. It is a nice big sturdy hardback book. I was very impressed with the size and the overall look of the book. It has a very beautiful inviting cover. If kids are going to be handling it a lot, I would recommend taking the sleeve off, just to prevent it from ripping. It is filled with stories, reflections and applications that are great for younger children and it is purposefully laid out. It starts with who God is and some of the core beliefs we have as Christians, this is the Think portion. Then it goes through the practices of our Christian walk, this is the Act portion. Finally, the book talks through Christian virtues and where you go from there, this is the Be portion. The book really reiterates that following Jesus is not just a cognitive thing, but all about your actions and your heart.
The pictures of this book are really amazing, some of them are a little abstract and dark, but overall, they are very impressive. And since the book is larger, it would also be the perfect book to be able to read in front of a group of children and then they can still see the pictures. I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old that we currently read to at night. This book is still a little old for them, but the stories are so short that it’s almost okay. My 4 year old daughter really enjoys hearing the bible stories. I love that she is hearing these real and deep concepts at such a young age. And I love hearing her talk about Jesus throughout the day and make up songs about the stories we read together. Overall, I would highly recommend this book. It is perfect for the bedside table and great for getting a routine started with your kids and giving them a strong biblical foundation for their faith.
I received this book from BookLook Bloggers for free in exchange for an honesty review. I hope you enjoy.
