So my husband and I were driving a few weeks ago and he randomly read a road sign that as far away. I was like, “Wait! You can read that?!” He said, “You can’t?” He has worn prescription eyeglasses since before I even knew him. I had no idea that I hadn’t been seeing as well as I could or should. I had worn glasses for a very short time in middle school, but I’m pretty sure I remember failing that test on purpose because I wanted glasses. Anyways, I’m not sure that I’ve had my eyes checked since (and I’m 32) so I knew it was time. Plus I found out that I have been covered for vision insurance up to $150/year this whole time and it was just going unused. I hate not taking advantage of things I’m paying for.
I had to recruit my mom to come babysit the 3 kiddos while I went in for my exam. I found out that I have astigmatisms in both eyes. That’s pretty common and means that my corneas are shaped more like footballs, instead of being symmetrical and round like baseballs. With that being said, my vision is not terrible and I am functional without correction, but what happens is that they can get worse over time with age. And if they effect how I see distances now, then I wondered how well I could actually see while driving if I had correction. We leave for vacation on Thursday to Texas, so we’ll be on the road awhile and I knew I wanted some prescription sunglasses for the trip. With my vision insurance, it would cover my exam and a pair of cheap glasses.
GlassesShop.com sent me this pair of prescription sunglasses for free in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed going through their frames and picking out the best option for me. They have a lot of styles to choose from. I started out thinking I wanted a wayfarer style frame, but ended up deciding on these black and white Marguerite Square ones. They are a little bit over-sized to protect my eyes (and give me that Hollywood look-haha) and I really love the way they go with my hat. They are comfortable on my face and seem to be sturdy and well made. They will be perfect for driving and lounging on the beach (plus they match my swimsuit). And don’t forget that they are also prescription lenses, so they will help me see so I don’t miss anything on vacation. Now I can really give my husband a run for his money in the alphabet road game.
